■ Software updates Important: Use only services that you trust and that offer adequate security and protection against harmful software. Nokia may produce software updates that may offer new features, enhanced functions, or improved performance. You may be able to request these updates through the Nokia Software Updater PC application. To update the device software, you need the Nokia Software Updater application and a compatible PC with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista operating system, internet access, and a compatible data cable to connect your device to the PC. To get more information and to download the Nokia Software Updater application, see www.nokia.com/softwareupdate or your local Nokia web site. Downloading software updates may involve the transmission of large amounts of data through your service provider's network. Contact your service provider for information about data transmission charges. Make sure that the device battery has enough power, or connect the charger before starting the update. If software updates over the air are supported by your network, you may also be able to request updates through the device. See "Phone," p. 36. ■ Phone software updates Your service provider may send phone software updates over the air directly to your device. This option may not be available on your device. Warning: If you install a software update, you cannot use the device, even to make emergency calls, until the installation is completed and the device is restarted.
