Common Functions-Continued 7Using Headphones For private listening, you can connect a pair of stereo headphones (1/4-inch phone plug) to the AV receiver's PHONES jack. ON/STANDBY STANDBY ZONE 2 PURE AUDIO MULTI CH PHONES ZONE 2 OFF ZONE 2 LEVEL Notes: • Always turn down the volume before connecting your headphones. • While the headphones plug is inserted in the PHONES jack, the speakers are turned off. (The Powered Zone 2 speakers are not turned off.) • When you connect a pair of headphones, the listening mode is set to Stereo, unless it was already set to Pure Audio, Mono, Stereo, or Direct, in which case it stays the same. • When the multichannel DVD input is selected, only the front left and front right channels can be heard in the headphones. Displaying Source Information You can display various information about the current input source as follows. Press the [RECEIVER] REMOTE MODE button, and then press the [DISPLAY] button repeatedly to cycle through the available information. Note: • This procedure can also be performed on the AV receiver by using its [DISPLAY] button. The following information can typically be displayed: Input source & volume*1 Signal format*2 or sampling frequency Input source & listening mode *1 When AM or FM radio is used, the band, preset num- ber, and frequency are displayed. *2 If the input signal is analog, or AM or FM radio is selected, no format information is displayed. If the input signal is PCM, the sampling frequency is displayed. If the input signal is digital but not PCM, the signal format is displayed. Information is displayed for about 3 seconds, then the previous display reappears. 49
