Thank you for your purchase of the Onkyo A/V Receiver. Please read this manual thoroughly before making connec- tions and turning on the power. Following the instructions in this manual will enable you to obtain optimum performance and listening enjoyment from your new A/V Receiver. Please retain this manual for future reference. Features ■ THX® Certified Receiver Certification by Lucasfilm means the TX-SV828THX has proven itself capable of reproducing cinema sound as the director intended. This requires special processing for "Re-equalization 'I', " "Decorrelation"," and "Timbre Matching''," as well as refined power amp circuitry to minimize distortion and noise, while maximizing stability and dynamic power. ■ Plentiful Power for Five Channels Discrete power amp circuitry delivers 100W per channel stereo, or 90W each for front left, right, and center channels plus 50W each for left and right surround channels. ■ 24-Bit Motorola® DSP for 7-Mode Digital Surround With its 24-bit data path and ultra-fast speed, this Motorola DSP chip attains incredibly detailed surround sound results. You'll hear the added realism in all seven exciting digital surround modes: Dolby Pro Logic, Home THX Cinema, Dolby Pro Logic Theater, Hall, Live, Arena, and Studio. ■ Clean Power Supply with WB Transformer This highly efficient new transformer design helps preserve musical details by reducing flux leakage and hum. It features continuous, gap-free, grain-oriented silicon steel core construction that wraps around the coil bobbins which are specially constructed to meet strict IEC742 standards. ■ Intelligent Power Management (IPM) When you turn on your TV, IPM automatically activates AV system power and selects Video-1 as the source input. ■ Programmable Universal R I Remote Control Onkyo's RI (Remote Interactive) commands are preprogrammed for major function of Onkyo components bearing the R I symbol. In addition, the remote can be "trained" to transmit the infrared remote control codes for almost any AV component. • On-Screen color displays • 8 Audio and 4 video inputs • Video input on front panel • 7 Large binding posts • 30 Random FM/AM presets and 3-group classification FOR EUROPEAN MODEL FOR USA► MODEL Note to CATV system installer: • This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer's attention to Section 820-40 of the NEC which provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical.
