Learning Remote Control Codes Universal Programmable Remote Control RC-307M If you are using a product made by another company which has a remote control, you can memorize the codes of that product into the RC307M. NOTES: • Commands of systems with the RI ONKYO mark are already stored at the A, B and C (SUB ROOM) positions of the A/B/C Selector switch. There is no need to "learn" them. • This remote control uses infrared rays. Most remote control codes can be memorized using the infrared system; however, depending on the degree to which the system differs, there are some rare occasions where memorization is not possible. The Display indicator (PRESS MATCHING KEYS, LEARNED/SENDING) These indicators act as a guide when this unit "learns", "uses" and "sending" commands. They also warn the user when an error is made or when battery power is low. 2. A/B/C (SUB ROOM) selector switch get rhi, selector cwitch to A or R when learning remote control codes. 3. USE/LEARN selector switch Set this selector switch to LEARN when learning remote control codes. 4. The programmable buttons • The VIDEO section is partially indicated by blue characters and consists of the following functions. For TV: Numeric buttonpad 1-9, 0, +10 CH (-,+), POWER For VDP: POWER, N. IN. Assign the other buttons to the same section as the white characters on the CD. For VCR: POWER, PAUSE (II) TV/VCR, CH Assign the other buttons to the same section as the white characters on the tape deck, • The RC-307M can also store remote control codes at A and B buttons that are not indicated by characters or symbols. 5. Set the USE/LEARN selector switch to LEARN. 2. Select A or B from A/B/C (SUB ROOM) selector switch. Each of the A or B buttons can be placed in the memory with a different code. They cannot be placed in memory when to C (SUB ROOM) position. 3. Place the head of your existing remote control 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) from the head of this remote control, laying both units on a table or another flat surface. 4. Press the button in the PROGRAMMABLE AREA of this remote control that you want to memorize the code into. • The PRESS MATCHING KEYS indicator lights. 5. Hold down the button you want to memorize on your existing remote control while the PRESS MATCHING KEYS indicator is lighted, until the LEARNED/SENDING indicator lights. 6. To continue the process and memorize another button, repeat steps 4 - 5. NOTES: • Some remote controls use a single button to change codes, with the code changing each time the button is pressed. If you are using this kind of control, please perform "learn" operations for each function individually, one function to one this remote control button. • For instructions regarding the operation of "learned" units, please refer to the individual instruction manuals for each product. • Even after codes have been memorized, please keep your existing remote control transmitter in a safe place. If the memorized codes are lost when the batteries run down , etc., it will be necessary to memorize them once again using the existing remote control transmitter.
