Disabling/Enabling Wireless Communication 69 There are 3 ways of disabling and enabling wireless communication. z Wireless Switch Utility (Î below ) z Settings in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility (Î page 82) z Setting in the Wireless Communication Disable Utility (Î page 70) NOTE z For further information about Wireless LAN: Î page 72 z For further information about Bluetooth: Î page 75 z For further information about Wireless WAN: Refer to the instruction manual of the wireless device. z To use wireless communication, set the wireless devices ([Wireless LAN] / [Bluetooth] / [Wireless WAN]) to [Enabled] (default) in the [Advanced] - [Wireless Configuration] menu of the Setup Utility (Î page 82). z It may take some time to turn off wireless communication after switching the wireless switch off. z If the IEEE802.11a setting is changed in [Device Manager] (Î page 74), the display will be changed accordingly. z You can check the wireless LAN communication status in Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software. Perform either of the fol- lowing procedure. • Double-click , , , or on the notification area. • Click [start] - [All Programs] - [Intel PROSet Wireless] - [WiFi Connection Utility] Wireless Switch Utility This utility allows you to enable or disable wireless devices from a pop-up menu in the notification area. In the default setting, all wireless devices are enabled. „ The Wireless Switch Utility icon The icon appears in the notification area when the computer is turned ON. It shows the status of wireless devices. • : Indicates that the wireless devices are enabled. • : Indicates that the wireless devices are off. • : Indicates that the wireless devices have been disabled in the Setup Utility. „ To enable or disable particular wireless devices 1 Click the Wireless Switch Utility icon to show the pop-up menu. 2 Select ON or OFF for the device you want to enable or disable.

Disabling/Enabling Wireless Communication

To use wireless communication, set the wireless devices ([Wireless LAN] / [Bluetooth] / [Wireless WAN]) to [Enabled]
(default) in the [Advanced] - [Wireless Configuration] menu of the Setup Utility (
page 82
).
It may take some time to turn off wireless communication after switching the wireless switch off.
If the IEEE802.11a setting is changed in [Device Manager] (
page 74
), the display will be changed accordingly.
You can check the wireless LAN communication status in Intel
®
PROSet/Wireless Software. Perform either of the fol-
lowing procedure.

The icon appears in the notification area when the computer is turned ON. It shows the status of wireless devices.

To enable or disable particular wireless devices
