OPERATION ETHANOL-BLENDED FUELS NOTICE: Do not use E15 or E85 fuel in this product. It is a violation of federal law and will damage the unit and void your warranty. Only use unleaded gasoline containing up to 10% ethanol. ADDING FUEL See Figure 4. DANGER: Risk of fire and serious burns: Never remove fuel cap when unit is running. Shut off engine and allow the unit to cool at least five minutes. Remove cap slowly. WARNING: Gasoline and its vapors are highly flammable and explosive. To prevent serious personal injury and property damage, handle gasoline with care. Keep away from ignition sources, handle outdoors only, do not smoke while adding fuel, and wipe up spills immediately. When adding gas to the generator, make sure the unit is sitting on a flat, level surface. If the engine is hot, let the generator cool for five minutes before adding gas. ALWAYS fill the fuel tank outdoors with the machine turned off. n Place the EASY START dial in the OFF/STORAGE position. n Remove the fuel cap slowly. n Fill the fuel tank to 1 in. below the top of the fuel neck. n Replace and secure the fuel cap. WARNING: Always shut off engine before fueling. Never remove fuel cap or add fuel to a machine with a running or hot engine. Make sure the unit is sitting on a flat, level surface and only add fuel outdoors. If the engine is hot, let the unit cool for at least five minutes before adding fuel. After fueling, immediately replace fuel cap and tighten securely. Move at least 30 ft. from refueling site before starting engine. Do not smoke and stay away from open flames and sparks! Failure to follow these instructions could result in a fire and cause serious personal injury. NOTE: Always use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 86 or higher. Never use old, stale, or contaminated gasoline, and do not use an oil/gas mixture. Do not allow dirt or water into the fuel tank. Do not use E85 fuel. ELECTRIC START This generator model is provided with both electric start and recoil start capabilities. The electric start feature can only be used when a sufficiently charged RYOBI™ ONE+™ 18V battery pack is installed. For complete charging instructions, refer to the Operator's Manuals for your RYOBI™ ONE+™ battery pack and charger. WARNING: Always remove the battery pack and keep hands clear of the engine switch when transporting, assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use. Following these instructions will prevent accidental starting that could cause serious personal injury. INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK See Figure 5. To install:  Open the battery cover.  Insert the battery pack into the battery port as shown. WARNING: Make sure the latches on the battery pack snap into place and the battery pack is fully seated and secure in the battery port before beginning operation. Failure to securely seat the battery pack could cause the battery pack to fall out, resulting in serious personal injury.  Close the battery cover. To remove:  Open the battery cover.  Locate the latches on the side of the battery pack and depress both sides to release the battery pack from the generator.  Close the battery cover. STARTING THE ENGINE See Figures 6 - 7. NOTICE: On a level surface with the engine off, check the lubricant level before each use of the generator. NOTE: If location of generator is not level, the unit may not start or may shut down during operation. NOTE: The generator is equipped with an Auto-Choke feature that automatically adjusts to help the engine start in warm or cold conditions. n Unplug all loads from the generator. n Add engine lubricant and fuel per the Operator's Manual instructions. n Install the RYOBI™ ONE+™ battery pack and close the battery cover. n Turn the EASY START dial to the ON position. 16 - English

OPERATION
ETHANOL-BLENDED FUELS
NOTICE:

ADDING FUEL
