Troubleshooting Messages Follow the instructions below if an error message appears in the display. Message ACCESS Meaning Accessing the built-in flash memory. AVLS (blinks) CANNOT PLAY The volume level exceeds the rated value while the AVLS is enabled. • Your Network Walkman cannot play certain files because of incompatible formats. • Transferring has been interrupted forcefully. CHARGE ERROR The power supply is abnormal. EXPIRED The track is playback restricted by the copyright holder. FILE ERROR • The file cannot be read. • The file is not normal. FORMAT ERROR The built-in flash memory was formatted on a computer. HOLD Your Network Walkman cannot be operated because the Slide Cover is set to the "HOLD" position. LOW BATTERY The battery is low. MEMORY ERROR A malfunction is detected in the built-in flash memory. Remedy Please wait for access to complete. This message appears while the built-in flash memory is initiating. Turn the volume down or disable the AVLS (page 33). If the file cannot be played, you can erase it from the built-in flash memory. For details, refer to "To delete abnormal data from the built-in flash memory" (page 57). Try using another computer. If track cannot be played, you can erase it from the built-in flash memory. For details, refer to "To delete abnormal data from the built-in flash memory" (page 57). Transfer the normal audio file back to the computer and then format your Network Walkman. For details, refer to "To delete abnormal data from the built-in flash memory" (page 57). Format the built-in flash memory using the "Format" menu of the Network Walkman. For details, refer to "To delete abnormal data from the built-in flash memory" (page 57). To operate the Network Walkman, set the Slide Cover to the center position (normal mode) (page 30).
