03020 4. Recording, Playback, and Copying Playback This section describes the playback of video and audio on the unit. Make the following settings and adjustments before starting playback. Selection of time data to display: Select with CNTR SEL on the HOME page of the function menu. Volume adjustment of audio channels: Select with AU VOL on the P1 AUDIO page of the function menu. Playback target You can play back the following on this unit. ˎˎClips/EDLs in internal storage ˎˎClips/EDLs on SxS memory cards Clip playback modes For internal storage Playback occurs in clip mode. Only the selected clip can be played back. Supported playback formats The following playback formats from internal storage are supported on the unit. ˎˎVideo: XAVC QFHD Long422 200, Audio: 8 or 16 channels ˎˎVideo: XAVC QFHD Intra Class300 CBG, Audio: 8 or 16 channels (24-bit, 48 kHz, uncompressed PCM audio) For SxS memory cards You can set playback mode to one of the following. Continuous playback mode: The playback target is all currently recording clips (factory default setting). Clip mode: The playback target is the currently selected clip only. To select clip mode Set setup menu item 154 SINGLE CLIP PLAYMODE to "on". Supported playback formats The following playback formats from SxS memory cards are supported on the unit. ˎˎVideo: XAVC QFHD Long422 200, Audio: 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels ˎˎVideo: XAVC-I QFHD 300, Audio: 2, 8, or 16 channels ˎˎVideo: XAVC QFHD Long 150, Audio: 4 channels (24-bit, 48 kHz, uncompressed PCM audio) [Notes] ˎˎIf a clip is being recorded, that clip becomes the last clip of the playback target. ˎˎIn shuttle mode playback, the video and audio are not continuous. ˎˎDepending on the performance of the SxS memory cards, images and audio may become discontinuous in variablespeed playback mode. ˎˎThe playback formats within an EDL (Edit Definition List) can be mixed. Playback in clip mode The available playback types include normal playback, high-speed playback in the forward/ reverse directions, and jog/shuttle/variable-speed playback. Playback stops when it reaches the start or end of the clip. The next or previous clip is not played, even if such clips exist. To move to another clip, press the PREV, NEXT, SHIFT + PREV, or SHIFT + NEXT button, or perform a thumbnail search. About the playback start position Immediately after the unit starts The playback start position varies depending on the clip playback mode. Continuous playback mode: Playback starts from the last playback position when power was disconnected. Clip mode: Clips remain closed. Start playback by selecting a clip/EDL from the clip list screen. After SxS memory card insertion The unit stops at the position of the memory card when it was most recently ejected. Press the PLAY button to resume playback at the most recent position. The playback start position is saved to the memory card when the memory card is ejected, which allows playback to start at that position whenever it is loaded into any XDCAM player. [Notes] ˎˎThe playback start position is not saved when the write protect switch of the memory card is set to prevent recording. When the write-protection tab is in the recording enabled position and the format of recorded sections on the memory card is not the same as the recording format setting of the unit, the REC INHI indicator lights, but the playback start position is saved to the memory card. ˎˎWhen playback is stopped on an EDL on another XDCAM device, the playback start position is not saved. After recording stops The unit stops at the position where recording ended. To play back a clip, press the PREV button to move to the start frame of any clip or press the PREV button with the PLAY button held down to move to any position. After playback stops When you press the STOP button, playback stops at that position and the position is saved. When you press the PLAY button, playback starts from the stopped position. [Note] When playback is stopped on an EDL, the playback position is not saved. Repeat playback function When setup menu item 142 REPEAT MODE is set to "play", you can start repeated playback of a clip/ EDL from internal storage or an SxS memory card. In repeat playback mode, is displayed on the details view screen. [Note] Clips and EDLs on a USB drive cannot be played in this mode. Selecting clips/EDLs DISPLAY button 1 Press the PB1 PORT button on the basic operation screen. 2 Select the media. To select clips/EDLs in internal storage: Press the INTERNAL button. To select clips/EDLs on an SxS memory card: Press the SxS button. When two SxS memory cards are inserted Press the SxS button, and select the card (A/B) to be copied. 3 Press the THUMBNAIL button. The clip list screen for the media selected in step 2 appears. To switch the clip list screen to thumbnail view Press the DISPLAY button.

Playback in clip mode
The available playback types include normal

After SxS memory card insertion
The unit stops at the position of the memory card

protect switch of the memory card is set to prevent
recording.
When the write-protection tab is in the recording enabled
position and the format of recorded sections on the
memory card is not the same as the recording format
setting of the unit, the REC INHI indicator lights, but the
playback start position is saved to the memory card.

When playback is stopped on an EDL on another XDCAM
device, the playback start position is not saved.
After recording stops
The unit stops at the position where recording
ended.
To play back a clip, press the PREV button to move

button with the PLAY button held down to move
to any position.
After playback stops
When you press the STOP button, playback stops
at that position and the position is saved.
When you press the PLAY button, playback starts
from the stopped position.

Repeat playback function
When setup menu item 142 REPEAT MODE is set
to “play”, you can start repeated playback of a clip/
EDL from internal storage or an SxS memory card.
In repeat playback mode,
