6. File Operations
Overview
A computer can be connected to the unit and
used to operate on recorded data which has been
saved in data files, such as video and audio data
files.
To perform file operations, connect the unit and a
computer via FTP (page 53).
Directory structure
The following figure shows an example directory
structure displayed when a computer is connected
to the unit.
[Note]
This structure is not the same as the actual structure
recorded in internal storage.
a) Root directory
On the computer, you can access internal storage
by accessing the INTERNAL directory.
FTPS protocol support
The unit supports the FTP and FTPS protocols.
Use of the FTPS protocol is recommended
when using the unit in an unsecured network
environment.
[Note]
USB drives and SxS memory cards cannot be used as multi-
access media. When a USB drive/SxS memory card is opened
on the clip list screen on the front panel of the unit, access
via FTP is not available. To access a USB drive/SxS memory
card from the network, select the internal storage on the
front panel.
Supported file operations
This section indicates the supported file operations on files stored in each directory.
“Read” and “Write” are defined as follows.
Read:
Read data sequentially from the start to the end of the file.
Write:
Write data sequentially from the start to the end of the file.

File names are not case-sensitive.
