Basic Operations 8 Press OK to confirm the setting. PLAY To enter another setting, repeat steps 1 to 7. OK 9 Press MENU to exit the menu. MENU 10 Press ?/1 to turn off the VCR. The TIMER indicator appears in the display window and the VCR stands by for recording. When using a cable box, leave it on. To stop recording To stop the VCR while recording, press x STOP. To use the Auto Tape Speed function When you are recording a program in the SP mode and the remaining tape becomes shorter than the recording time, the tape speed is automatically changed to the EP mode. Note that some noise will appear on the picture when the tape speed is changed. If you want to keep the tape speed, select SP. To operate this function, set "Tape select" in the ADVANCED OPTIONS menu correctly (page 69). To use the VCR after setting the timer To use the VCR before a timer recording begins, just press ?/1. The TIMER indicator disappears from the display window and the VCR switches on. Remember to press ?/1 to reset the VCR to the timer recording standby mode after using the VCR. You can also do the following tasks while the VCR is recording: • Reset the counter (page 44). • Display tape information on the TV screen (page 46). • Check the timer settings (page 63). • Watch another TV program (page 47). Tip • To check, change or cancel the program setting, see "Checking/changing/canceling timer settings" on page 63. Note • If the VCR does not accept the PlusCode number, this means that: - The PlusCode number is incorrect. - ONCE, MO~FR, or WEEKLY was selected incorrectly. To stop the VCR while recording, press

STOP.
To use the Auto Tape Speed function
When you are recording a program in the SP mode and the remaining tape becomes
shorter than the recording time, the tape speed is automatically changed to the EP
mode.
Note that some noise will appear on the picture when the tape speed is
changed.
If you want to keep the tape speed, select SP.
To operate this function, set
“Tape select” in the ADVANCED OPTIONS menu correctly (page 69).
To use the VCR after setting the timer
To use the VCR before a timer recording begins, just press

Remember

Note
If the VCR does not accept the PlusCode number, this means that:
– The PlusCode number is incorrect.
– ONCE, MO~FR, or WEEKLY was selected incorrectly.

Correctly set the PlusCode number again from step 2.
