Introduction Communications LAN Wireless LAN*7 Modem Wireless communication switch The computer is equipped with a LAN card that supports Ethernet LAN (10 Mbit/s, 10BASE-T) or Fast Ethernet LAN (100 Mbit/s, 100BASE-TX). It is preinstalled as a standard device in some markets. A Wireless LAN mini card is equipped with other LAN systems based on Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum/Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing radio technology that complies with the IEEE 802.11 Standard (Revision A, B, G and draft N). A number of utilities and drivers are preinstalled to make your computer more convenient to use. Refer to the Utilities and applications section in this chapter. When you connect an external device to the computer or when you install a component, Plug and Play capability enables the system to recognize the connection and make the necessary configurations automatically.
