MANAGING USERS AND SHARES About Shares A share is an area on the WD My Cloud device for storing files. A share can be public so that all users can access the contents, or private to limit access to selected users. The Shares icon on the navigation panel displays a list of shares on the WD My Cloud device and enables the administrator to manage shares and user access. Viewing a List of Shares 1. Click the Shares icon on the navigation bar to display a list of shares on the WD My Cloud device. For each share name, the description and the media serving and access status display. Included in the list as shares are (WD) SmartWare backup, TimeMachine Backup, and shares on a USB device connected directly to the WD My Cloud expansion port. The first time you access the page, it displays an explanation, a graphic description, and links to pertinent Help topics. 2. Click a share to display its profile and user access information. The user access list is inaccessible when Public Access is ON; you can change the user's access to the share when Public Access is OFF. WD MY CLOUD PERSONAL CLOUD STORAGE 50 USER MANUAL
