Chapter 25 Wireless LAN Table 48 ADVANCED > WIRELESS (continued) LABEL DESCRIPTION Channel Width Select whether the N4100 uses a wireless channel width of Auto 20/ 40 MHz or 20 MHz. A standard 20MHz channel offers transfer speeds of up to 150Mbps whereas a 40MHz channel uses two standard channels and offers speeds of up to 300 Mbps. 40MHz (channel bonding or dual channel) bonds two adjacent radio channels to increase throughput. The wireless clients must also support 40 MHz. It is often better to use the 20 MHz setting in a location where the environment hinders the wireless signal. It is recommended that you select Auto 20/40 MHz. This allows the N4100 to adjust the channel bandwidth depending on network conditions. Select 20 MHz if you want to lessen radio interference with other wireless devices in your neighborhood or the wireless clients do not support channel bonding. Data Rate Security This field is available only when you set the 802.11 Mode to 802.11n only, 802.11n + 802.11g or 802.11n + 802.11g + 802.11b. Select a transmission rate at which wireless clients can always connect to the N4100. Select Disable to allow wireless devices to communicate with the N4100 without any data encryption. Select WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) to have the N4100 perform user authentication and data encryption. WPA's data encryption is stronger than WEP. Select WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) to have the N4100 perform user authentication and data encryption. WPA2's data encryption is stronger than WPA and WEP. WPA/WPA2 Group Key Rekeying Use WPA/WPA2 with Pre-shared Key Pre-shared Key Use WPA/WPA2 with RADIUS Server Server IP Select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy to have the N4100 encrypt data frames before transmitting them over the wireless network. Select the check box to enable WEP data encryption. Then configure the WEP keys. The Group Key Rekeying field sets how often the AP (if using WPA(2)-PSK key management) or RADIUS server (if using WPA(2) key management) sends a new group key out to all clients. Select this radio button to use a pre-shared key for WPA or WPA2. Type a pre-shared key from 8 to 63 case-sensitive ASCII characters (including spaces and symbols). Select this radio button to use a RADIUS server to authenticate the wireless clients. Enter the external authentication server's IP address (in dotted decimal notation). N4100 User's Guide 195
