Airbags Pose Serious Risks to Children The passenger's front airbag inflates with enough force to kill or seriously injure an infant in a rear-facing child seat. A small child in a forward-facing child seat is also at risk. If the car seat is too far forward, or the child's head is thrown forward during a collision, an inflating front airbag can kill or seriously injure the child.
