Top cover Description Top cover (includes TouchPad board and cable, and TouchPad button board and cable) Spare part number 491254-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 50). 5. Remove the following components: a. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 51) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 59) c. Switch cover and keyboard (see Switch cover and keyboard on page 61) d. Speakers (see Speakers on page 66) e. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 67) Remove the top cover: 1. Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Remove the two rubber screw covers (1) and the seven slotted Torx ST8M2.5×7.0 screws (2) that secure the top cover to the computer. The rubber screw covers are available in the Rubber Kit, spare part numbers 491257-001 (for use only with HP Compaq 6730s Notebook PC models) and 491620-001 (for use only with HP Compaq 6735s Notebook PC models). 74 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
