NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer. NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the main battery (see Before Working Inside Your Computer) before you begin working inside the computer. 1. Follow the instructions in Before Working Inside Your Computer. 2. Place the computer on a flat working surface. 3. Turn the computer upside-down, loosen the captive screw on the component cover. 4. Remove the component cover from the computer. 5. Remove the M2 x 3-mm screw that attaches the modem to the system board. 6. Pull up on the pull-tab to disconnect the modem from the modem connector on the system board. 1 modem connector on system board 2 modem 3 M2 x 3-mm screw 4 pull-tab 5 modem cable NOTICE: Do not disconnect the modem cable from the system board. 7. Disconnect the modem cable from the modem.

Removing the Modem
1.
Follow the instructions in
Before Working Inside Your Computer
.
2.
Place the computer on a flat working surface.
3.
Turn the computer upside-down, loosen the captive screw on the component cover.
4.
Remove the component cover from the computer.
5.
Remove the M2 x 3-mm screw that attaches the modem to the system board.
6.
Pull up on the pull-tab to disconnect the modem from the modem connector on the system board.
7.
Disconnect the modem cable from the modem.
