Example Session This section describes an Easy Setup Wizard session. Refer to the state diagram in the previous section for general flow. The following values used by the example session are not the only possible ones: • IP address for the management VLAN is 192.168.2.1:255.255.255.0. • The user name is admin, and the password should be 8-64 characters in length (admin123). • The network management system IP address is 192.168.2.1. • The default gateway is 0.0.0.0. • The SNMP community string to be used is {public}. The setup wizard configures the initial values as defined above. After the user completes the wizard, the system is configured as follows: • SNMPv1/2c is enabled and the community string is set up as defined above. SNMPv3 is disabled. • The admin user account is set up as defined. • A network management system is configured. From this management station, the user can access the SNMP, HTTP, and CLI interfaces. The user may also choose to allow all IP addresses to access these management interfaces by choosing the (0.0.0.0) IP address. • An IP address is configured for the default management VLAN (1). • A default gateway address is configured. The following example contains the sequence of prompts and responses associated with running an example Dell Easy Setup Wizard session, using the input values listed above. Note in this case a static IP address for the management interface is being set up. However it may be requested that the system automatically retrieve an IP address via DHCP. If DHCP is used, the system does not request a network mask or default gateway. In this example, the user employs the setup wizard to configure the initial values as defined above. NOTE: In the example, the possible user options are enclosed in [ ]. Also, where possible, default values are enclosed in []. If the user enters with no options defined, the default value is accepted. Help text is in parentheses.
