Removing an Expansion-Card Cooling Fan and Guide CAUTION: Before you perform this procedure, see "Safety First- For You and Your Computer." NOTICE: Before disconnecting a device from the computer or removing a component from the system board, verify that the standby power light on the system board has turned off. To locate this light, see "System Board Components." 1 Turn off the computer and devices, disconnect them from their electrical outlets, wait at least 10 to 20 seconds, lay the computer on its right side, and open the computer cover. 2 Remove any full-length expansion cards. NOTE: There may not be any full-length expansion cards in the computer. 3 Disconnect the fan power cable from its connector on the system board (FAN_CCAG). To locate this connector, see "System Board Components." 4 Press the release tabs outward from the expansion-card fan and guide, and lift the fan/guide up and out of the guide bracket (see the following figure). 89

NOTICE:
Before disconnecting a device from the computer or removing a
component from the system board, verify that the standby power light on the
system board has turned off. To locate this light, see "
System Board
Components
."

Turn off the computer and devices, disconnect them from their
electrical outlets, wait at least 10 to 20 seconds, lay the computer on its
right side, and
open the computer cover
.

Remove any full-length expansion cards
.
NOTE:
There may not be any full-length expansion cards in the computer.

Disconnect the fan power cable from its connector on the system
board (FAN_CCAG). To locate this connector, see "
System Board
Components
."

Press the release tabs outward from the expansion-card fan and guide,
and lift the fan/guide up and out of the guide bracket (see the
following figure).
