2.1 Installing ScanSnap "Installation" is the operation to copy the supplied program file or ScanSnap Manager to the hard disk of your computer and create the environment for using ScanSnap on the computer. ■ Before Installing ScanSnap Manager 1. Before installing ScanSnap Manager, check the following system requirements. ■ Operating system One of the following operating systems is required: • Mac OS X v10.3, or v10.4 Mac OS X v10.1 Mac OS X v10.2 Mac OS X v10.3 Mac OS X v10.4 ScanSnap Manager - - 3 3 Adobe Acrobat 8 - - - 3 *1 (3: Supported -: Not-supported) *1 There are some restrictions on the use of Adobe Acrobat 8. ■ Computer • Power PC® G4 processor 800MHz or higher (recommended: Power PC® G5 processor 1.6 GHz or higher) Intel® CoreTM Solo or Duo Processor (recommended: Intel® CoreTM Duo Processor1.83GHz or higher) • USB port (USB 2.0/1.1) ■ RAM • 128MB or more (recommended: 512MB or more) ATTENTION • ScanSnap may not function if it is connected to a USB port for the keyboard or the monitor. • If you need to use a commercially available USB hub, use a powered one that comes with an AC adapter. • If you want to connect the scanner via USB 2.0, the USB port and Hub must be USB 2.0-compliant. The scanning speed may slow down when the scanner is connected using USB 1.1. Use the USB 2.0 port, if your computer has one. • If the CPU or the memory does not meet the requirements, the scanning speed will slow down. 6
