Transfer block Primary transfer Step 5: The toner on the photosensitive drum is transferred to the intermediate transfer belt (ITB). The ITB is given a positive charge by the bias of the primary transfer roller. The negatively charged toner on the drum surface is transferred onto the ITB. All four color planes are transferred onto the ITB in this step. The secondary transfer bias is applied to the secondary transfer roller to charge the paper positive. As the paper passes between the secondary transfer roller and the ITB, the complete toner image on the ITB is transferred onto the paper.
