Introduction Single-Ended SCSI Bus Configuration Constraints For the single-ended SCSI bus, HP-UX supports only one of each type of removablemedia disk drive (i.e., floppy disk, CD-ROM, or magneto-optical drives) and two of the same type tape devices (i.e., 4-mm DDS tape drives or 9-track tape drives) per SCSI bus. You may connect no more than seven SCSI devices to each single-ended SCSI bus. Table 1-1 shows the configuration constraints for each single-ended SCSI device type. You may connect no more than seven SCSI device IDs to each single-ended SCSI bus. Some SCSI devices use more than one SCSI drive address. Each address must be accounted for in the maximum number of SCSI devices allowed. CAUTION: Do not connect single-ended SCSI devices to a differential SCSI bus or differential SCSI devices to a single-ended SCSI bus. Connecting a SCSI device to the wrong SCSI bus can cause system failure. 1-12
