Hard drive or solid-state hard drive NOTE: The mounting brackets and the hard drive/solid-state drive cable are not included in the drive spare part kit. The hard drive/solid-state drive cable is available using spare part number 856011-001. The hard drive mounting bracket is available using spare part number 856012-001. The solid-state drive mounting bracket is available using spare part number 856013-001. Description Solid-state drive (128-GB, M.2 SATA, DRAM-less) Hard drives: 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm hard drive (for use only on computer models with model numbers m3-u000 through m3-u099 and m13-u000 through m13-u099) 500-GB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm hard drive (for use on all computer models) 500-GB, 5400-rpm, 7.0-mm solid-state hard drive with 8-GB NAND (for use on all computer models) Spare part number 827560-011 832077-005 778186-005 732000-005 Before removing the hard drive or solid-state drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the keyboard/top cover (see Keyboard/top cover on page 34). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 42). Remove the mass storage device: 1. Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the mass storage device cable is attached, and then disconnect the mass storage device cable from the system board. 2. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×4.6 screws (2) that secure the mass storage device to the base enclosure. 3. Lift the right edge of the mass storage device (3) until it rests at an angle. Before removing the hard drive or solid-state drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by
first
unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the keyboard/top cover (see
Keyboard/top cover
on page
34
).
5.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
42
).
Remove the mass storage device:
1.
Release the ZIF connector
(1)
to which the mass storage device cable is attached, and then disconnect
the mass storage device cable from the system board.
2.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×4.6 screws
(2)
that secure the mass storage device to
the base enclosure.
3.
Lift the right edge of the mass storage device
(3)
until it rests at an angle.
