Enabling and Disabling Write Filter To enable or disable Write Filter using Rapport, refer to the help topic, "Write Filter Protection on NTe Clients" in the Rapport Help file. To determine if Write Filter is enabled on a client, Windows NTe 4.37 displays a color-coded icon in the system tray. The following table illustrates these colored icons. Write Filter System Tray Icon Color Scheme Blue Icon Color Yellow White Red Meaning Write Filter is Enabled and loaded properly. Write Filter is Disabled until the client is rebooted. After the reboot, Write Filter is set to Enabled (Blue). Write Filter is set to be Inactive even after the client reboots. When Write Filter is set to inactive, the flash memory on the client is not properly protected. It is highly recommended that Write Filter be enabled (See "Enabling and Disabling Write Filter" ). Write Filter Failed to load (Failure may be due to missing or incorrect files). This places Write Filter in a disabled status. If the client indicates a Red (Failed) icon, then Write Filter needs to be reloaded on the client to ensure flash memory protection. Quick Reference Guide 33
