1 Setting Up and Using Your PC Your PC's Hardware Control Panel Your PC's Hardware Control Panel Your PC's hardware control panel is on the front of the PC. Power On Status Light Hard Disk Activity Light Power On/Off Button Power On/Off Button This button is used to turn the PC power on or off. Always shut down the operating system first using the Shut Down command, rather than by just pressing the on/off button. Refer to your operating system documentation for more information. If there is a problem during the shutdown procedure and the software hangs, then, after one minute, press the on/off button for four seconds. This turns off the power but may result in data being lost. You should only use this method of turning off the PC when the normal shutdown procedure does not work. Hard Disk Activity Light This light glows/flickers when your hard disk drive is being accessed. The hard disk activity light will also work if you install a second IDE hard disk drive (supplied by HP). You should note, however, that the hard disk activity light does not work for SCSI drives. Your PC’s hardware control panel is on the front of the PC.
Power On/Off Button
This button is used to turn the PC power on or off. Always shut down
