REPAIR GUIDE Be sure to remove the storage battery (BCL 1015) from the main body before servicing. Inadvertent triggering of the switch with the storage battery connected will result in the danger of accidentally activating the motor. 1. Precautions on Disassembly and Reassembly The [Bold] numbers in the description below correspond to item numbers in the Parts List and exploded assembly diagram for the Model DS 10DFL. Disassembly 1. Removing the Drill Chuck 10MM Turn the sleeve of Drill Chuck 10MM [2] counterclockwise (when viewed from the front) until the jaw of Drill Chuck 10MM [2] fully opens. Unfasten Special Screw (Left Hand) (B) M5 X 25 [1] clockwise, and then remove it. (Note that the screw tightens counterclockwise.) Next, align the drill mark [ ] on Clutch Dial [4] with the triangle mark (Ÿ) on Housing (A). (B) Set [29]. Finally, set Shift Knob [33] to "Low." Fit a hexagonal Allen wrench into Drill Chuck 10MM [2], and then turn the chuck counterclockwise to remove it. (If the chuck cannot be easily removed, use a hammer to tap the other end of the hexagonal Allen wrench fitted into Drill Chuck 10MM [2], while being careful to avoid physical injury.) 2. Disassembling the housing Remove eight Tapping Screw (W/Flange) D3 X 16 (Black) [38] that secure the main body in place, and then slowly open Housing (A). (B) Set [29] while holding the housing part that contains the battery. You can remove internal components as a complete assembly or by individual parts from opened Housing (A). (B)Set [29]. To remove the all internal components together, hold Motor DC12V [28] and Clutch Dial [4], and then lift both from Housing (A). (B) Set [29]. The internal components are the drive unit (Gear Box Ass'y [3]), power supply unit (Motor DC12V [28], DC-Speed Control Switch [35], and Controller (B) [36]), Pushing Button (A) [32], and Shift Knob [33]. 3. Separating the drive unit from the power supply unit While holding Gear Box Ass'y [3] and Motor DC12V [28], turn Motor DC12V [28] counterclockwise to separate Gear Box Ass'y [3] from Motor DC12V [28] (with Motor Spacer [27] attached). 4. Disassembling the drive unit (1) Disassembling the deceleration mechanism Remove the two Screw Set D2 X 3.5 [17] from the side of Gear Case [9]. Then you can remove Shift Arm [11] from Gear Case [9]. Next, remove Washer (A) [25], First Ring Gear [24], Planet Gear (A) Set [23] (3 pieces), Pinion (B) [22], Washer (C) [21], Slide Ring Gear [20], Planet Gear (B) Set [19] (3 pieces), and Pinion (C) [15] sequentially in this order. Remove the two Needles [16] from the side of Gear Case [9], and then remove Washer (B) [14], Planet Gear (C) Set [18] (3 pieces), Carrier [13], Ring Gear [12], and six Steel Balls D5 [10] sequentially in this order. NOTE: Since these parts are small, do not to lose the parts after removal. Use special care for six Steel Balls D5 [10] because these balls may easily roll away. (2) Disassembling the clutch mechanism Remove Clutch Dial [4] and Click Spring [5] from Gear Case [9]. Turn Nut [6] fitted onto Gear Case [9] counterclockwise to remove it, and then remove Spring [7] and Thrust Plate [8] sequentially in this order. NOTE: Do not disassemble Gear Case [9]. -10-
