BIOS POST Beep Codes The following table lists the POST error beep codes. Prior to system video initialization, the BIOS uses these beep codes to inform users of error conditions. The beep code is followed by a user-visible code on POST Progress LEDs. Table 11. POST Error Beep Codes Number of Beeps 3 Reason for Beeps and Action to Take System halted because a fatal error related to the memory was detected. In the case of POST error(s) that are listed as Major, the BIOS enters the error manager and waits for the user to press an appropriate key before booting the operating system or entering the BIOS Setup. The user can override this option by setting the POST Error Pause option as disabled on the BIOS setup Main screen. The following table lists the POST error beep codes. Prior to system video initialization,
