Audio Settings Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the Recorder's Audio Output according to the type of audio system you use. Lock (Parental Control) Settings OR Dolby Digital / DTS / MPEG [Bitstream]: Select [Bitstream] if you connect the DVD+VCR's DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack to an amplifier or other equipment with a Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG decoder. [PCM] (for Dolby Digital / MPEG): Select when connected to a two-channel digital stereo amplifier. DVDs encoded in Dolby Digital or MPEG will be automatically downmixed to two-channel PCM audio. [OFF] (for DTS): If you select [OFF], the DTS signal is not output through the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT Sampling Freq. (Frequency) Selects the sampling frequency of the audio signal. [48 kHz]: In case of DVD with 96KHz sampling, Output is converted to 48kHz. If your receiver or amplifier is NOT capable of handling 96 kHz signals, select [48 kHz]. [96 kHz]: The digital audio signals are output in their original sampling format. DRC (Dynamic Range Control) With the DVD format, you can hear a program's soundtrack in the most accurate and realistic presentation possible, thanks to digital audio technology. However, you may wish to compress the dynamic range of the audio output (the difference between the loudest sounds and the quietest ones). This allows you to listen to a movie at a lower volume without losing clarity of sound. Set DRC to [ON] for this effect. [US Rating] [Canadian Rating] Notes Lock System and TV Rating options are effective for digital TV program only. When you set the TV Rating, a program with a TV Rating beyond your rating setting cannot be recorded correctly. (Normal recording, Timer recording, etc.) The default TV Rating setting is to allow all programs to be viewed. Lock System You can lock certain unsuitable channels to prevent children from accessing them, or set a TV Rating, so that any digital TV program classified above that rating by the broadcaster will be restricted. If the [Lock System] is set to [OFF], TV Rating options are not effective. The Lock System option is effective for TV Rating and Downloadable Rating options. 1. Select [Lock System] option then press B. 2. To access the Lock Menu options, you must input the 4-digit password you created. If you have not yet entered a password you are prompted to do so. Input a 4-digit password. Enter it again to verify. If you make a mistake, press CLEAR. 3. Select [ON] or [OFF] using the v / V buttons. 4. Press ENTER ( ) to confirm your setting. DVD Rating 1. Select a rating from 1 to 8 using the v / V buttons. [1]-[8]: Rating one (1) has the most restrictions and rating eight (8) is the least restrictive. [No Limit]: If you select [No Limit], parental control is not active and the disc plays in full. 2. Press ENTER ( ) to confirm your rating selection, then press HOME ( ) to exit the menu. 3. Press EJECT, OPEN/CLOSE (Z) to activate parental control. Note If you set a rating for the recorder, all disc scenes with the same rating or lower are played. Higher rated scenes are not played unless an alternate scene is available on the disc. The alternative must have the same rating or a lower one. If no suitable alternative is found, playback stops. Audio Settings
Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options.
Set the Recorder’s Audio Output according to the type
of audio system you use.
Dolby Digital / DTS / MPEG

[Bitstream]:
Select [Bitstream] if you connect the
DVD+VCR’s DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack to an
amplifier or other equipment with a Dolby Digital,
DTS or MPEG decoder.

:
Select when
