Chapter 7. Replacing hardware Replacing the Keyboard and Mouse To replace the keyboard and mouse: 1. Before removing any media (diskettes, CDs, or memory cards) from the drives, shut down your operating system, and turn off all attached devices and the computer. 2. Unplug all power cables from electrical outlets. 3. Locate the ports for the keyboard and mouse. Refer to "Front view of the computer" and "Rear view of the computer". Note: Your keyboard and mouse might be connected to the USB port at either the front or rear of the computer. 4. Disconnect the old keyboard or mouse cable from the computer and connect the new keyboard or mouse cable to the same port. Replacing the power cable or power adapter To replace the power cable and power adapter: 1. Remove any media (diskettes, CDs, or memory cards) from the drives, shut down your operating system, and turn off all attached devices and the computer. 2. Locate the socket for the power cable. Refer to "Rear view of the computer". 3. Disconnect the old power cable and adapter from the computer and connect the new power cable and adapter to the same socket. 53

Replacing the Keyboard and Mouse
To replace the keyboard and mouse:
1.
Before removing any media (diskettes, CDs, or memory cards) from
the drives, shut down your operating system, and turn off all attached
devices and the computer.
2.
Unplug all power cables from electrical outlets.
3.
Locate the ports for the keyboard and mouse. Refer to “Front view of
the computer” and “Rear view of the computer”.
Note:
Your keyboard and mouse might be connected to the USB port at
either the front or rear of the computer.
4.
Disconnect the old keyboard or mouse cable from the computer and
connect the new keyboard or mouse cable to the same port.
Replacing the power cable or power adapter
To replace the power cable and power adapter:
