Chapter 3 Power Management This item is used to select the degree (or type) of power saving and is related to these modes: HDD Power Down, Doze Mode and Suspend Mode. There are three options for power management: Min Saving Minimum Power Management. Doze Mode = 1 Hour, Suspend Mode = 1 Hour, and HDD Power Down = Disable. Max Saving Maximum Power Management. Doze Mode = 1 Min., Suspend Mode = 1 Min, and HDD Power Down = Disable. User Define Allows end users to configure each mode separately. HDD Power Down If HDD activity is not detected for the length of time specified in this field, the hard disk drive will be powered down while all other devices remain active. Settings: Disable and 1 through 15 Min. Doze Mode If system activity is not detected for the length of time specified in this field, the CPU clock will run at slower speed while other devices still run at full speed. Settings: Disable, 1 Min, 2 Min, 4 Min, 6 Min, 8 Min, 10 Min, 20 Min, 30 Min, 40 Min, 1 Hour. Suspend Mode If system activity is not detected for the length of time specified in this field, all devices except CPU will be shut off. Settings: Disable, 1 Min, 2 Min, 4 Min, 8 Min, 12 Min, 20 Min, 30 Min, 40 Min, 1 Hour. ACPI Sleep Type This item specifies the power saving modes for ACPI function. Options are: S1(POS) The S1 sleep mode is a low power state. In this state, no system context (CPU or chipset) is lost and hardware maintains all system context. S3(STR) The S3 sleep mode is a power-down state in which power is supplied only to essential components such as main memory and wake-capable devices and all system con- 3-22
