Auto-flash (No indication) The flash fires automatically in low light or backlight conditions. Red-eye reduction flash (!) The red-eye reduction flash mode reduces red eye effect by emitting preflashes before firing the regular flash. Fill-in flash (#) The flash fires regardless of the available light. Flash off ($) The flash does not fire even in low light conditions. Slow synchronization #SLOW1 #SLOW2 HSLOW En 1st curtain (front curtain) #SLOW1 (factory default setting): Adjusts the flash for slow shutter speeds. 2nd curtain (rear curtain) #SLOW2: The flash fires just before the shutter closes. 1st curtain with red-eye reduction HSLOW: Adjusts the flash for slow shutter speeds, and minimizes red-eye. J USING THE SELF-TIMER This function is useful for taking pictures with yourself included in the photograph. Fix the camera securely on a tripod or stable surface for selftimer shooting. 1 Turn the control dial while holding down Z and select Y. 2 Press the shutter button fully to start self-timer shooting. • The self-timer/remote control lamp lights for approximately 10 seconds, then starts blinking. After blinking for approximately 2 seconds, the picture is taken. • To cancel the self-timer, press Z. • The self-timer mode is automatically canceled after one shot. 36 En
