Taking Pictures • Face recognition AF and face recognition AE work in Portrait mode and Kids mode. Just by pointing the camera directly at a person from the front allows the camera to recognize the position of their face and the focus (face recognition AF) and the exposure (face recognition AE) are adjusted for shooting. • Only the mode icon and the focus frame are displayed in Portrait mode and Kids mode, other shooting information is not displayed. Also, the information display cannot be switched by pressing the OK/Display button. • Face recognition AF and face recognition AE may not work if the subject is wearing sunglasses or is not facing the camera directly. Taking Pictures of Your Pet (Pet Mode) In Pet mode, you can take pictures that show natural hair color of your 4 pet. Choose the appropriate icon depending on what color your pet is (closer to black or white or in between). 1 Press the four-way controller (3) in Capture mode. The Mode Palette appears. 2 Use the four-way controller (2345) to select E. 3 Press the OK button. The screen for selecting the pet mode appears. 4 Use the four-way controller (23) to select E, F, F, H, G or G. There are two icons of a cat and a dog. OK OK (Choosing either the cat or dog icon does not affect the resulting picture. Choose whichever you prefer.) 5 Press the OK button. 38 The Pet mode is selected and the camera is ready to take the picture. 6 Press the shutter release button halfway. The focus frame turns green when the 08/24/2006 14:25 subject is in focus. 59
