Connecting a Power Source Connecting a Power Source You can use either AC power or a rechargeable battery pack as a power source. Using the AC Adapter 1 Plug the cable attached to the AC adapter into the DC In connector on the computer. 2 Plug one end of the power cord into the AC adapter. 3 Plug the other end of the power cord into an AC outlet. Connecting Computer to AC Outlet Notebook computer DC In AC adapter (supplied) ✍ Use your notebook only with the supplied AC adapter. To disconnect your notebook completely from the main power source, unplug the AC adapter. Make sure that the electrical outlet is easily accessible. Notes on the AC Adapter ❑ Your computer operates on 100-240 V AC 50/60 Hz. ❑ Do not share the AC outlet with other power-consuming equipment, such as a copy machine or shredder. ❑ You can purchase a power strip with a surge protector. This device prevents damage to your computer caused by sudden power surges such as those that may occur during an electrical storm. 25
