Connecting an Optical Drive (optional) 6 The message, "Floppy Disk Drive can now be safely removed from the system" appears. Click OK. 7 Slide the unlock lever on the bottom of the computer in the direction of the arrow, and then unplug the floppy disk drive from the computer. ! If you choose and remove the USB Disk, the internal memory stick becomes disabled. If you have removed the USB Disk by mistake (instead of the USB floppy), take the following steps to recover it. 1 Open the start menu, select Settings, Control Panel, and then the System icon. The System Properties appear. Select Device Manager. 2 Click the Refresh button. 3 In the "Stop a Hardware device" dialog box, confirm that the device can be safely removed from the system. Click OK. To carry the floppy disk drive Fold the floppy disk cable into the compartment on the right side. Notes on handling diskettes ❑ Do not open the shutter manually and touch the surface of the diskette. ❑ Keep diskettes away from magnets. ❑ Keep diskettes away from direct sunlight and other heat sources. Connecting an Optical Drive (optional) You can use the optional PCGA-CD51/A CD-ROM drive, or the PCGA-DVD51/A DVD drive with your notebook. If you use an optional drive when your computer is running on battery power, the battery life will be shorter. The drive draws power from the computer through a PC card. 71
