Setting the Network preferences for your provider and dial-up server Entering a password The Password setting identifies the password you use to log into your server or ISP. Your entry in this field determines whether your CLIÉ handheld prompts you to enter a password each time you log into your network: • If you do not enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word -Prompt- in this field and asks you to enter a password during the log-in procedure. • If you enter a password, your CLIÉ handheld displays the word -Assigned- in this field and does not prompt you to enter a password during the log-in procedure. Note If you are concerned about security, select the -Prompt- and do not enter a password. 1 Tap the Password field on the Preferences screen for Network. 2 Enter the password you use to log into your server. 3 Tap [OK]. The Password field changes to display the word -Assigned-. Selecting a connection Use the Connection setting to select the method you want to use to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a dial-up server. 1 Tap V next to Connection, and select [Standard Modem] on the Preferences screen for Network.
