Slowthevehicle to a roll,about 3 mph (5 km/h)andshiftyour transmissionintoneutral. 2. Shiftthetransfercaseshiftlever in onecontinuousmotion. Don'tpause in N (Neutral)asyoushiftthetransfercaseinto gearscouldclash. 4L, or your Remember thatdrivingin 4H or 4L mayreduce fuel economy. Front Axle Locking Feature The front axle locks and unlocks automatically when you shift the transfer case. A slight delayfortheaxle to lockorunlock is normal. If the outside temperature is veryhot,or thevehiclehasbeenused under harddriving conditions, there may be a slight delay for the axle to unlock. 2-32
