108 MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Parking Brake Lever The parking brake helps hold the vehicle from rolling while parked. In accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart, check that the parking brake lever functions properly. the locknut (upper nut) on the middle of • Loosen the parking brake lever, and turn the nut next to the locknut until the brake lever will only move 8 a 12 clicks upward. j Inspection A. Locknut B. Nut C. Brake Lever • Tighten the locknut securely. A. Parking Brake Lever NOTE the parking brake lever up and to the rear. • Pull After to 12 clicks of lever travel, the vehicle • should8 not roll while parked. • If it does, adjust the parking brake lever. Adjustment • Raise the seat. żBe sure to hold the cable end with a wrench to prevent the cable from twisting. żIf the brake lever can not be adjusted with the nuts shown here, or if there is any doubt as to the condition or braking effectiveness, have the parking brake system inspected by an authorized Kawasaki dealer.
