Text messages Display Apply Brake to Shift from 'P' Cruise Control - - - mph (USA only) Cruise Control - - - kmh (Canada only) Possible cause/consequence You have tried to Shift the automatic transmission to drive position D, reverse gear R or neutral position N without stepping on the brake. You have tried to switch on cruise control below a speed of 20 mph (30 km/h). ESP® is switched off. The automatic transmission is in park position P, reverse gear R or neutral position N. The system is overheated. The vehicle is secured in place by the electronic parking brake. Cruise Control Inoperative Cruise control is malfunctioning. Possible solution Step on brake. Drive faster than 20 mph (30 km/h) and save the speed. Switch on ESP® ( page 74). Shift the automatic transmission to drive position D ( page 417). Wait until the system cools down. Release electronic parking brake ( page 412). Have cruise control checked by an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. 624
