The sliding door must be unlocked for it to operate. The key does not have to be in the ignition. To help avoid NOTICE: accidental operation of the sliding door, disable the power sliding door by pushing the power sliding door When your vehicle goes through an automatic car wash, be sure the power sliding door override override switch.
