This section describes special procedures EMC Legato NetWorker users must use in
order to perform backup and restore operations on the SnapServer.
Add the SnapServer as a Root User
For backup operations, NetWorker requires that the SnapServer be configured as a
root user. To add the SnapServer root user as one of the administrators, use the
following procedure:
1
Open the NetWorker Administrator application.
2
Click the
Configuration
tab.
3
Click the
User Groups
menu item.
4
Click on the
Administrators
group.
5
In the Configuration box, add one of the following:
user=root@
hostname
where
hostname
is the host name of the SnapServer for each SnapServer.
Or, enter:
user=root
to add root for all SnapServers.
6
Click
OK
.
Recover and Retrieve Operations
The EMC Legato NetWorker administrative interface does not support data
recovery operations from a remote client for a Linux-based operating system such
as the GuardianOS. To recover data, you must execute one of the following CLI
commands from a SSH client.
Recover —
The
recover
command restores data from a normal backup job.
Nsrretrieve —
The
retrieve
command restores data from an archive.
