Using the Initial Setup Wizard Using the Initial Setup Wizard The first time you connect to a Snap Server via the browser-based Administration Tool, the Initial Setup Wizard runs. The Initial Setup Wizard consists of several screens that allow you to change the server name, set the date and time, set the administrator password, configure TCP/IP settings for the primary Ethernet port (Ethernet1), and register the server. Server Name The default server name is SNAPnnnnnn, where nnnnnn is the server number. If desired, enter a unique server name of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. In addition to letters and numbers, you can also use a dash (-) between characters, but spaces are not allowed. Date/Time Settings The Snap Server time stamp applies when recording server activity in the event log (Monitoring tab), setting the create/modify time on a file, and when scheduling snapshot, antivirus, or S2S operations. Edit the settings according to local conditions. Changing the Administration Password The default administrator user name is admin and the default password is also admin. A password must consist of 1 to 15 alphanumeric characters and is case sensitive. To prevent unauthorized access to the Snap Server, enter a secure password immediately in the fields provided. Gathering TCP/IP Addressing Information Snap Servers are preset to acquire an IP address from a DHCP server. If you do not plan to use or do not have a DHCP server, assemble the following information prior to running the wizard: • The IP address for the Snap Server (required) • The subnet mask (required) • The default gateway IP address • The domain server IP address • WINS server(s) IP address(es) 8 Snap Server Administrator Guide

Using the Initial Setup Wizard
The first time you connect to a Snap Server via the browser-based Administration
Tool, the Initial Setup Wizard runs. The Initial Setup Wizard consists of several
screens that allow you to change the server name, set the date and time, set the
administrator password, configure TCP/IP settings for the primary Ethernet port
(Ethernet1), and register the server.
Server Name
The default server name is SNAP
nnnnnn
, where

is the server number. If
desired, enter a unique server name of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. In
