Signature Updates To Distribute Files via UNC If you have more than one Snap Server with no Internet access, you can perform the previous procedure on just one of them (or any Windows/SMB server), and then configure your other Snap Servers to get the update from that server automatically via UNC. 1 Choose Scanner > Signature Update Options, and click the Incoming tab. 2 Click the Add button, and select UNC in the Method list box. 3 Enter the path to the Snap Server (or Windows/SMB server) to which the update files have been downloaded (see previous procedure) using the following format: \\server_name\share_name where server_name is the name of the server, and share_name is the name of the share providing access to the files. (On a Snap Server, the update files must reside on the root of the share.) 4 Click OK. The path you entered appears in Download Sources list box. 5 Click Download Now. To Distribute Files via FTP If you have more than one Snap Server with no Internet access, you can perform the FTP download procedure on just one of them (or any FTP server), and then configure your other Snap Servers to get the signature updates from that server automatically via FTP. 1 Choose Scanner > Signature Update Options, and click the Incoming tab. 2 Click the Add button, and select FTP in the Method list box. 3 Enter the following information regarding the server on which the update file resides as follows: • In the Host Name field, enter the IP address. • In the User Name and Password fields, enter the admin user name and password. • In the Remote Path field, enter the path to the directory in which the file resides. If you have more than one Snap Server with no Internet access, you can perform the

\\server_name\share_name
where

is the name of the server, and

is the name of the
share providing access to the files. (On a Snap Server, the update files must reside
on the root of the share.)
