Windows Command Prompt Procedure for Host Name and ID To obtain the host name and ID at the Windows command prompt 1 At the Windows command prompt, enter ipconfig /all 2 Record the Host Name and Physical Address line. Eliminate dashes from the physical address. This is your twelve-character host ID. NOTE If your server has more than one network adapter, select the one that corresponds to a physical network adapter. View the Description field above each physical address. If there is more than one physical network adapter, it does not matter which one you use. Devices such as VPN adapters, PPP adapters, and modems are not valid. 3 Close the Windows command prompt. LMTOOLS Procedure for Host Name and ID To obtain the host name and ID using the LMTOOLS utility IMPORTANT Do not run LMTOOLS on a remote computer. You should be logged in with Administrator rights when working with the LMTOOLS utility. 1 Click Start ➤ All Programs ➤ Autodesk ➤ Network License Manager ➤ LMTOOLS Utility. 2 In the LMTOOLS utility, click the Systems Settings tab. 3 Locate the Computer/Hostname box. Copy the host name and paste the information into a text editor. 4 Locate the Ethernet Address box. The 12-character Ethernet address is the host ID. NOTE If your server has more than one Ethernet adapter, select one that corresponds to a physical network adapter. If you are using a Mac OS X computer with more than one network card, you must use the address of the primary network card. 5 Close LMTOOLS. Network Licensing | 99
