UNIX/Linux-System Network Setup and Configuration 1 To configure the Print Server for LPD printing, perform the procedures below: 2 1. Enable the Print Server's TCP/IP support. 2. Set up the Print Server's IP address. 3 3. Verify the Print Server's IP address. 4. Configure remote LPD printing on the host. 4 5. Print a test page. 5 In the next sections, we will describe these five procedures step by step. 6 Enable the Print Server's TCP/IP Support 7 The Print Server's default configuration is to have TCP/IP support enabled. You can also configure the Print Server to enable TCP/IP support using the configuration program. 8 9 Set Up Print Server's IP Address The Print Server must have a unique IP address in order to be 10 recognized by the network. You can set up the IP address on the various UNIX /Linux systems 11 using any one of the following methods: 12 1. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) 2.
