Chapter 8 Standard Adjustment 6-3 Adjusting the Belt Tension The belt Tension is adjusted to the optimum tension at the time of shipment from the factory. However, as the belt is used,it becomes run in and may loosen around the machine pulley and motor pulley . Use the following procedure to check the belt tension. w q 8 mm of deflection in the belt 9.8 N (1 kgf) of pressure ˛ w slot e Place a gauge against the belt q, loosen the nut w, and then turn the nut e to move the slot to the appropriate position so that there is 8 mm of deflection in the belt q when 9.8 N (1 kgf) of pressure is applied. Place a gauge against the belt

to the appropriate position so that there is 8 mm of deflection in the belt
