Error Message Cause Action Drum Error The corona wire on the drum unit Clean the corona wire on the drum unit. (See needs to be cleaned. Cleaning the corona wires on page 160.) It is time to replace the drum units. Replace the drum unit with a new one for the color that is indicated on the LCD. (See Replacing the drum units on page 177.) Drums End Soon Drum End Soon(X) 1 Fuser Error The drum unit is near the end of its life. The drum unit for the color indicated on the LCD is near the end of its life. The temperature of fuser unit does not rise at a specified temperature within specified time. The fuser unit is too hot. Buy new drum units before you get a Replace Drums message. Buy new drum unit for the color indicated on the LCD before you get a Replace Drum(X) 1 message. Turn the power switch off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it on again. Leave the machine for 15 minutes with the power on. The machine can be turned off for approximately 60 hours without losing faxes stored in the memory. (See Transferring your faxes or Fax Journal report on page 150.) Init Unable XX The machine has a mechanical problem. Disconnect the machine from the power for several minutes, then reconnect it. (The machine can be turned off for approximately 60 hours without losing faxes stored in the memory. See Transferring your faxes or Fax Journal report on page 150.) If the problem continues, call Brother Customer Service. Jam Inside The paper is jammed inside the (See Paper jams on page 152.) machine. Jam Rear The paper is jammed in the back (See Paper jams on page 152.) of the machine. Jam Tray The paper is jammed in the paper (See Paper jams on page 152.) tray of the machine. No Belt Unit The belt unit is not installed properly. Re-install the belt unit. (See Replacing the belt unit on page 181.) No Paper The machine is out of paper or paper is not properly loaded in the paper tray. Do one of the following: Refill the paper in the paper tray and press Black Start or Color Start or put the paper in the manual feed slot. Remove the paper and load it again. Then press Black Start or Color Start. If the problem is not solved, the paper pick-up roller may be stained. Clean the paper pickup roller. (See Cleaning the paper pick-up rollers on page 166.) 146
