135 T R O U B L E S H O O T I N G A N D M A I N T E N A N C E ERROR MESSAGE NO RESPONSE/BUSY NOT ASSIGNED PLS CLEAN DRUM PLS OPEN COVER PRINTER JAM TONER EMPTY CHANGE TONER CAUSE ACTION The number you called does Check the number and try not answer or is busy. again. Or, you may have reached a number that is not connected to a fax machine. You tried to access a One Set up the One Touch or Touch or Speed Dial number Speed Dial number. See that is not programmed. chap. 7. The primary corona wire of drum unit is dirty. Clean the primary corona wire of drum unit. (See "Cleaning the Drum Unit" in this chapter). A page, piece of paper or paper clip, etc. may be jammed inside the machine. Open the front cover. If you see any jammed paper or other item, gently pull it out, then close the scanner unit. If the error message remains, open and close the front cover again. If the machine cannot reset itself and return to the date and time prompt, it will display MACHINE ERROR XX. Please call your Brother dealer for service. The recording paper is jammed in the machine. Do not pull the paper out until you see next page. Toner cartridge is not installed. Toner is used up and printing is not possible. Reinstall the toner cartridge. Replace the toner cartridge with a new one. (See "Replacing the Toner Cartridge" in this chapter). If the display shows Order a new toner cartridge CHANGE TONER and at now. the same time the Toner Empty LED on the control panel flashes on and off, you can still print. But the toner is depleted and the machine is telling you that the toner will soon run out.
