CRVW3 3-Channel Vibrating-Wire Datalogger Plan the collection interval in your scheduled collection scenario to collect data from your CRVW3 devices well before any data loss can occur. The Reset Tables button can be used to clear all the records out of a specified table. If you choose to reset the VW_Data table or one of the other tables, do so only with extreme caution (after having collected and confirmed receipt of all needed data) to ensure that no data loss occurs. 11.2 Manual Data Collection Although automatic data collection regularly retrieves the data from a CRVW3 station and stores it on the LoggerNet computer, there may be times when data needs to be retrieved without having to wait for the next scheduled poll (data collection) event to occur. For example, if data is collected automatically only once per hour or once every four hours, then manual collection can be used to ensure data collection is working properly without having to wait for an hour or more to confirm operation. For those cases, manual data collection can be used. It is also possible to retrieve data from a CRVW3 using manual collection when a technician visits the CRVW3 field site. 11.2.1 Manual Data Collection From the LoggerNet Station Use the ConnectScreen to collect data manually from a station using LoggerNet. Establish a preferred connection to a specific CRVW3 device from which data is to be collected by highlighting the station in the Stations list and pressing the Connect button. There are two kinds of manual collection methods available: Custom Collection and Collect Now. Use Collect Now when you want the collection of data to operate just as it does when automatic/scheduled collection occurs, except that the collect operation will occur immediately and not wait for the next automatic event. With Collect Now, data that is collected is placed into the same .DAT file used when 74
