Installing Hardware Options 4-3 3. Rotate the power supply handle down 2 and slide the supply out of the chassis 3 as shown in the following figure. NOTE: When you remove the power supply, a spring-loaded trap door will close to block the opening. This door preserves the air path required to cool the internal components of the server. 3 1 2 Figure 4-2. Removing a power supply 4. Remove the protective covers from the connector on the new power supply. See the installation documentation that came with the power supply for more information. Keep the protective covers for future handling. 5. Lower the handle on the new hot-plug power supply. 6. Slide the hot-plug power supply into the power supply cage, pushing the spring-loaded trap door open, until the supply is seated securely . 7. Raise the handle to lock the power supply into place . The power supply fan will start immediately if the system is running.
