Embedded System Management The Lifecycle Controller is an embedded utility that enables systems and storage management tasks from an embedded environment throughout the server's lifecycle. The Lifecycle Controller can be started during the boot sequence and can function independently of the operating system. NOTE: Certain platform configurations may not support the full set of features provided by Lifecycle Controller. For more information about setting up the Lifecycle Controller, configuring hardware and firmware, and deploying the operating system, see the Lifecycle Controller documentation at support.dell.com/manuals. Baseboard Management Controller Configuration NOTE: If an iDRAC6 Express card is installed on the system, the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) utility is replaced by the iDRAC6 utility. The BMC enables configuring, monitoring, and recovering of systems remotely. BMC provides the following features: • Uses the system's integrated NIC • Enables fault logging and SNMP alerting • Provides access to system event log and sensor status • Allows control of system functions including power on and off 76 Using the System Setup Program and UEFI Boot Manager
