FADER INPUT FINALIZE B REMOTE CONTROL UNIT RC-278 3 4 1 Load the CD you want to copy into the CD unit. 2 Load the CD-R/RW onto which you want to record into the CD-R unit. 3 Press the RELAY MODE button and select "Dual Play". • The "DUAL" indicator lights. 4 Press the input selector button and set "CD". Follow the procedure at "Recording From External Devices" on Page 15 ~19 to record. 5 • The display can be switched with the DISPLAY SELECT button so that you can check the time information, etc., for the CD and CD-R. • To quit the dual mode, press the relay mode button and select "Single Play". NOTE: • Only digital signals can be recorded from the CD unit manually. 15 FINALIZING CD-R/RW DISC 5 Finalizing is a simple procedure, necessary to: • Be able to play recordings on a CD player, • Avoid further unwanted recordings on a disc, • Avoid erasure of tracks on a CD-RW. 5 This operation is not possible in the relay or mix mode. Switch to the normal or dual mode to perform this operation. 5 Close the disc tray and set the stop mode for the CD section. (1) Auto finalizing Auto finalizing is possible when using the Make CD recording function. See "Copying Procedure" and "Synchronized recording of the Disc" on Page 13, 18. FADER INPUT FINALIZE B REMOTE CONTROL UNIT RC-278 3 2 1 Load the CD-R/RW disc that is to be finalized. 2 With the recorder stopped press the FINALIZE button. • "Finalize OK?" is displayed. Press the ENTER button. 3 • The display counts down through the finalization. • On completion, the total number of tracks and the total time recorded appears on the display. • The disc indication of the display will become "CD". NOTES: • Make sure the disc is absolutely free of scratches and dust particles. • Finalizing will take at least 2 - 4 minutes. • During finalization, the CD recorder accepts no operating commands. • Text data is written to the disc when the disc is finalized. If you want to enter text, this must be done prior to finalizing. • For information about cancelling CD-RW finalizing, see "Cancellation of CD-RW Disc Finalizing (i.e., Unfinalizing)" on Page 28. • Never turn off the power or unplug the power cord during finalization. Doing so may render the disc unusable. 27
